Minister of Cooperatives and SMEs, Teten Masduki, revealed that the export value of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) reached IDR 13 trillion by mid-2025. These local products have successfully penetrated markets in 33 countries, reflecting the global competitiveness of Indonesia's SME sector. The dominant export products come from food and beverage commodities, handicrafts, and fashion, which are deemed to have unique characteristics and strong cultural value.
While this achievement is encouraging, Teten highlighted that MSMEs' contribution to total national exports remains low, at under 20%. Therefore, he emphasized the need for a long-term strategy to drive MSME transformation to better prepare them for global competition, including through digitalization, strengthening the logistics ecosystem, and improving product quality. Teten also stressed the importance of cross-ministerial and institutional support to ensure that SME exports not only grow quantitatively but also sustainably.
