Bank Indonesia, along with the East Java Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin) and the East Nusa Tenggara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kadin), brought together 97 business players at the Investment and Trade Business Forum held in Surabaya on Monday (July 28th). This forum served as a strategic platform to strengthen partnerships between businesses in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and East Java, while simultaneously encouraging expanded market access, investment, and interregional trade. The Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for NTT Province, Agus Sistyo Widjajati, stated that the collaboration between NTT and East Java has been very successful. Similarly, the Head of the BI Representative Office for East Java Province, Ibrahim, emphasized that BI will continue to synergize to support investment contributions to drive sustainable economic growth.
The business forum resulted in four Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) focused on accelerating investment and increasing the capacity of NTT businesses. Among the strategic investment commitments agreed upon were the development of corn cultivation on 1,000 hectares in Kupang Regency, as well as the development of laying hen and broiler farms to support national priority programs. In addition to investment, the forum also successfully secured a Letter of Intent (LoI) worth over IDR 3 billion, reflecting the high interest from East Javanese buyers in NTT's leading commodities. Products such as coffee, seaweed, processed beef, and NTT woven textiles attracted buyers due to their competitiveness in both domestic and global markets. Furthermore, interregional synergy was also demonstrated through cooperation to meet the supply of broiler chicken in NTT, which will be supplied by businesses from East Java, facilitated by BI NTT and Department of Industry and Trade NTT.
