CV Mitra Tuna Mandiri officially launched its first export of frozen yellowfin tuna, consisting of two containers bound for Vietnam, with a symbolic departure ceremony held at the Nusantara Ahmad Yani Fishing Port in Ternate on July 24, 2025. The shipment was accompanied by the North Maluku Export Synergy Team including Customs, the Industry and Trade Department, and other technical agencies to ensure smooth logistics and quality standards. Ternate Customs Head Jaka Riyadi described the export as strong evidence that local businesses in North Maluku can penetrate global markets when supported by appropriate facilitation and capacity development.
This inaugural export marks an important milestone for the non-mining fisheries sector in North Maluku, where local commodities are beginning to gain recognition in international markets. The tuna products, which meet export standards, demonstrate the quality and sustainability of local marine resource management. Jaka Riyadi also hopes this initiative will inspire other businesses to actively pursue export opportunities. The synergy that has been established is considered highly strategic for expanding market access and enhancing inclusive value addition to the regional economy.
