The processing industry recorded significant growth in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel), reaching 10.6% year-on-year. This was conveyed by the Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of the Republic of Indonesia, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, when met at the VIP room at Depati Amir Airport, Pangkalpinang, before departing for Jakarta on Thursday afternoon (July 24th, 2025). "Based on BPS data, Bangka Belitung's overall economy grew significantly by 4.6%, with three main supporting sectors: the processing industry (21.2%), agriculture (21.1%), and mining (15.5%)," Amalia explained. She added that the processing industry's 21.2% contribution to Bangka Belitung's economic structure demonstrates the sector's extraordinary potential if managed and developed seriously by the Bangka Belitung Provincial Government.
Furthermore, Amalia stated that strengthening downstream products is key to Bangka Belitung's future economic resilience. This is because the processing industry not only creates jobs but also provides a sustainable source of income. Amalia expressed her appreciation for the collaboration between the Babel Provincial Government and the BPS (BPS) officials in the region. She hoped that her visit to Negeri Serumpun Sebalai would be the first step in strengthening Babel's economic development direction based on data and real potential. Meanwhile, the Acting Regional Secretary (Sekda) of Babel, Fery Afriyanto, expressed his gratitude for the attention and support from BPS RI. "The presence of the Head of BPS RI is a major motivation for Babel to continue promoting development based on accurate and measurable data," said Fery. It should be noted that during her visit to the Bangka Belitung Islands, the Head of BPS RI, Amalia Adininggar Widyasanti, carried out several important agenda items. One of these was the signing of a cooperation agreement regarding the provision, utilization, and development of statistical data and/or information for regional development in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province.
