PT Biro Klasifikasi Indonesia (Persero) or BKI is expanding its global network to enhance its competitiveness as a national classification body. One development was receiving a courtesy call from the General Manager of Türk Loydu, a Turkish classification body. This visit aimed to strengthen the bilateral relationship between the two classification bodies and their respective countries. BKI Director R. Agus Doddy Dwisagita stated that potential collaborations between the companies in the fields of ship classification, industrial certification and human resource development were also discussed during the visit. BKI is currently focusing on enhancing ship certification. Both parties discussed potential technical collaboration and institutional capacity building through the exchange of knowledge and experience. Through this collaboration, it is anticipated that the partnership between BKI and Türk Loydu can further support the advancement of the national and international maritime industry.
Previously, Türk Loydu collaborated with BKI on investments to develop the national maritime industry. Both parties are committed to increasing the Domestic Component Level (TKDN) in the construction of ships for the Indonesian Navy. This collaboration is expected to be a significant step towards achieving Indonesia's maritime defence independence by fostering collaboration between national and international classification institutions. The Deputy Minister of Defence, Donny Ermawan Taufanto, stated that the steps taken by BKI and Türk Loydu are an example of cross-national synergy. The collaboration will strengthen Indonesia's position in the maritime industry. This collaboration aligns with BKI's mission as a national classification body to expand its global cooperation network and strengthen Indonesia's maritime industry capacity.
