Airlangga Confirms Economic Stimulus Program Will Be Extended

Coordinating Minister of Economic Affairs, Airlangga Hartarto, has confirmed that Indonesia will extend its economic stimulus program into the second half of 2025. The detailed stimulus package, to be announced in September, will include transportation discounts such as lower fares for flights, trains, ships, and toll roads—especially during the December 2025 to January 2026 holiday season to boost customer spending. However, the government will no longer include electricity bill discounts or wage subsidies (BSU) in this new phase.

The government will maintain a 100% VAT exemption (PPN DTP) for property purchases in Semester II, reversing a previous plan to reduce it to 50%. This decision follows the earlier rollout of five stimulus packages worth IDR 24.44 trillion in Q2 2025, which covered transportation subsidies, toll discounts, social assistance, and labor sector incentives. Notable benefits included discounted tickets, food assistance for 18.3 million households, and wage subsidies for 17.3 million low-income workers.
