The province of West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) is strengthening its non-mining commodity exports by releasing flagship products to various countries in the Americas, Europe, and Asia. Governor Lalu Muhamad Iqbal, alongside the Head of Bank Indonesia NTB, Berry Harahap, officially launched the export of 4 tons of vanilla to the United States, 5 tons of candlenuts to Japan, a container of home décor to Germany, and furniture to Spain. The governor stated that NTB is not only expanding its market reach but also enhancing product value through downstream development — encouraging local processing industries to serve international demand.
Governor Iqbal emphasized the importance of collaboration among the provincial, regency, and city governments, as well as Bank Indonesia NTB, to help local producers become more competitive. He urged foreign investors, especially vanilla importers, to establish processing facilities in NTB so exports can shift from raw materials to high-value processed goods. According to him, this strategy will significantly boost the regional economy and help NTB become increasingly “prosperous and global” by promoting value-added local products.
