The Quality Agency of the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) of the Bangka Belitung Islands Province (Babel) announced that it is preparing to export 25 tons of shellfish to China for the first time. "The export order for shellfish to China has been placed, and we are now awaiting approval for the export number," said Dedy Arief Henriyanto, Head of the Bangka Belitung Islands KKP Quality Agency, in Pangkalpinang, Bangka Belitung Islands, on Wednesday. He stated that if the export registration number is approved, the Bangka Belitung Islands Province will initially export 25 tons of shellfish to China.
According to Dedy, during the second quarter of 2025, the Bangka Belitung Islands will only export fish, shrimp, and squid to four countries: Malaysia, Australia, Vietnam, and Singapore. "The Bangka Belitung Islands' fishery exports are primarily to Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, and Australia, with squid and fantail shrimp exports," he said. According to him, fishery exports from the Bangka Belitung Islands have shown a fairly positive trend from year to year, but are quite volatile due to the influence of the westerly and easterly wind seasons, which affect fishermen's catches. "Weather conditions in these waters significantly impact fish exports, but overall, fishery exports in this area have continued to increase year after year," he said.
