PT Pupuk Indonesia has expressed strong support for the launch of the Desa Merah Putih Cooperative (KDMP), a village-level initiative aimed at improving fertilizer distribution and supporting national food self-sufficiency. Integrated into the government’s fertilizer system under Presidential Regulation No. 6 of 2025, KDMP is expected to ease farmers’ access to both subsidized and non-subsidized fertilizers. President Prabowo Subianto praised KDMP as a strategic step to strengthen Indonesia’s rural economy, using the metaphor of bundled sticks to emphasize collective strength.
Pupuk Indonesia CEO Rahmad Pribadi stated that KDMP will complement existing fertilizer ecosystems by serving as distribution points in villages. Support includes legal assistance, cooperative development, and guaranteed fertilizer supply. With 108 pilot cooperatives launched—106 already operating—KDMP will also engage local farmer groups to expand impact. The company believes this initiative will not only boost agricultural productivity but also empower village economies and accelerate Indonesia’s goal of food sovereignty.
