Rote Ndao Designated as a National Salt Industrial Zone

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) has designated Rote Ndao Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), as a National Salt Industry Center (K-SIGN). This was announced by Rote Ndao Regent Paulus Henuk. Paulus explained that the designation of Rote Ndao as a national salt industry center is something that deserves support to improve the economy at both the regency and provincial levels in NTT. According to Paulus, the KKP is targeting completion of the development of 13,000 hectares of salt fields by the end of September 2025. Currently, only 1,601 hectares of land have been prepared.
"We have only completed 1,601 hectares and will continue with approximately 10,000 more hectares," Paulus continued.

The Golkar politician explained that K-SIGN is part of President Prabowo's program to achieve national food self-sufficiency, including salt. "We, the community, are very enthusiastic about supporting and encouraging the central government to immediately begin construction," he explained. Currently, the land mapping and inventory process is ongoing with the KKP technical team. However, he acknowledged that there were challenges in the mapping process, particularly due to the limited number of ATR/BPN officers in Rote Ndao Regency. "I also asked the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries to request full support from the Ministry of ATR/BPN because there are limited officers in Rote Ndao," he said.
