Chairman of Commission XI DPR, Mukhamad Misbakhun, praised President Prabowo Subianto’s economic reforms as deeply patriotic, especially his revision of Government Regulation No. 8 of 2025. The policy mandates exporters of natural resources to deposit their foreign exchange earnings (DHE) in the national financial system for at least 12 months. Misbakhun emphasized that this measure strengthens Indonesia’s foreign reserves and aligns with the constitutional principle that natural resources must be managed for the people’s welfare. He noted that in 2024, natural resource exports totaled USD 166.04 billion, making up 62.7% of the national export value.
Misbakhun argued that requiring DHE to remain within the country could enhance domestic liquidity and help Bank Indonesia stabilize the rupiah. However, he also warned that without benefiting the real sector—such as jobs, investment, and consumption—this policy may fall short. He called for complementary strategies to ensure that these foreign earnings actively drive national economic growth and development.
