Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), Bahlil Lahadalia, revealed that the value of energy imports from the United States (US) is approximately US$10-15 billion, equivalent to IDR 162.88-244.33 trillion (assuming an exchange rate of IDR 16,288 per USD). This significant import value follows an agreement to lower import tariffs on goods to Indonesia to 19% from the previous 32%. In the future, Indonesia will increase imports of several commodities, such as fuel oil (BBM), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), and crude oil. "Of course, one of the topics in the negotiations will be Indonesia's proposal to the US, which will include approximately US$10-15 billion in LPG, followed by fuel oil, and crude oil," he said when met at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources office in Jakarta on Friday (July 18, 2025).
Bahlil believes the reduction in tariffs on goods entering the United States is thanks to Prabowo's negotiation strategy. Bahlil unhesitatingly called President Prabowo's negotiations above average. Therefore, as a follow-up, the government will coordinate with state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina (Persero). This will include regulations governing US import policies. "I haven't held a technical meeting with Pertamina yet. We will announce it after the technical meeting," he concluded.
