Banten Governor Andra Soni inaugurated a fertilizer and pesticide raw material factory, or carbamate, to support President Prabowo Subianto's food security program. The factory, owned by PT Delta Giri Wacana (DGW), located in the Modern Industrial Estate, Serang Regency, Banten, will produce carbamate-based active ingredients with an initial capacity of 2,000 metric tons per year, or around 5,000 metric tons per year if formulated into pesticide products. Construction began in November 2023, with an investment of approximately USD 20 million. It is said to be the largest in Southeast Asia. It also produces a variety of modern agricultural equipment. "The presence of agrotechnology factories like this now directly contributes to increased agricultural productivity, one of which is fertilizer, both subsidized and non-subsidized," said Banten Governor Andra Soni on Wednesday (July 16, 2025). Andra, who also serves as the Chairman of Gerindra Banten, explained that 5.72% of the gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in his region comes from agriculture.
According to Andra, the presence of industries operating in the agricultural sector is expected to achieve national food security, in line with President Prabowo Subianto's program, particularly in Banten, which has extensive agricultural land, particularly in Pandeglang Regency, Lebak Regency, and Serang Regency. "Agricultural potential can be utilized to improve the economy in Banten. Statistics Indonesia (BPS) data shows that the agricultural sector contributes 5.72 percent of GRDP in Banten. Therefore, the agricultural sector is expected to achieve food security in Banten," he explained. Based on an internal study by PT Delta Giri Wacana, the market potential for the active pesticide ingredient industry in Indonesia is highly promising. National pesticide consumption has reached IDR 16.4 trillion and is growing at a CAGR of 10 percent, projected to reach IDR 25.4 trillion by 2028. "The establishment of this factory demonstrates private sector support for the government's national food security program," said DGW Group President Director David Yaory on Wednesday (July 16, 2025).
