MIND ID (Mining Industry Indonesia) is intensifying its commitment to driving national mineral downstreaming by integrating upstream-to-downstream strategies. According to CEO Maroef Sjamjoeddin, the company aims to deliver high-value products that make a direct impact on the national economy and strengthen economic sovereignty. One of its current priorities is the aluminum supply chain, with ongoing projects including bauxite processing and the development of a Smelter Grade Alumina Refinery (SGAR) in Mempawah, designed to produce 1 million tons of alumina annually.
Additionally, MIND ID is developing a 600,000-ton-per-year aluminum smelter and a second SGAR phase to double alumina capacity. These downstream efforts are expected to dramatically increase mineral value—from bauxite at just USD 40 per ton to aluminum at USD 2,700 per ton—while also generating thousands of jobs and fostering regional manufacturing. With strong policy support, MIND ID envisions becoming a key pillar in Indonesia’s shift toward a competitive, sustainable, resource-based economy.
