TKL Magelang Jeep Tour: Exciting, Challenging, Boosting the Local Economy

Kyai Langgeng Park (TKL) Ecopark in Magelang City officially launched its new attraction, "Jeep Tourism," on Sunday (July 13th, 2025). This attraction offers an adrenaline-pumping off-road adventure, exploring the teak plantations in the TKL area and the challenging route to the Progo River delta. Magelang Mayor Damar Prasetyono officially inaugurated the attraction and opened the Special Competition Stage (SCS) for the Mayor's Cup Pre-Championship, which will be held on July 12–13th, 2025, at the same location. The event was also attended by Deputy Mayor Dr. Sri Harso, Magelang City Regional Secretary Hamzah Kholifi, the Magelang City Forkopimda (Regional Leadership Communication Forum), the Indonesian Off-Road Federation (IOF) Central Council, the Central Java IOF Management, organizing partners, and hundreds of participants from various regions. According to Damar, the presence of this jeep ride will be a new attraction and strengthen Magelang City's position as a leading tourist destination. "This off-road jeep will be a mainstay going forward. It's a refreshing recreational alternative," said Damar.

Damar also emphasized the importance of the community's role in welcoming tourists by maintaining cleanliness, providing friendly service, and maintaining the hygiene of the products sold. He is optimistic that the presence of this new ride will have a multiplier effect, from increasing tourist visits, economic growth, and job creation. TKL Ecopark President Director, Sri Widodo, added that TKL, as a regionally-owned enterprise (BUMD), is committed to supporting local revenue (PAD) while also creating business and job opportunities for residents. Currently, TKL continues to improve by providing diverse, safe, and sustainable entertainment. In addition to the SCS event, a bird singing competition was recently held. "In the future, there will be a trail run with 500 participants, ColoRun, and various regular weekly events. All of this is to strengthen TKL as a tourism beacon," he explained. Sri Widodo also expressed the support of PT. Berlian Mataram, which has provided 20 jeeps for this new attraction. Going forward, TKL also plans to introduce trail bike and motorcycle rides that will navigate routes among the trees in TKL.
