The National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and the Indonesian Ministry of Foreign Affairs are designing a new export strategy targeting non-traditional countries. This collaboration aims to strengthen Indonesia's economic diplomacy through the expansion of export markets to regions that have not been the main trade destinations, such as countries in Africa, South Asia, Latin America and Eastern Europe. This step was taken in response to the need to diversify export markets to maintain national economic resilience and reduce dependence on traditional trading partners such as the US, China and Japan.
In this effort, BRIN utilizes a research-based approach to identify potential value-added products to be developed in these new markets. In addition, the strategy also involves cultural, science and technology diplomacy approaches to build stronger relationships with potential trading partners. By synergizing research results with foreign policy, BRIN and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs hope to open new export routes for national businesses, especially the MSME sector and national strategic industries. This strategy is part of a long-term vision to make Indonesia an exporting country that is adaptive, innovative, and able to respond to the challenges of global economic dynamics.
