Lampung Governor Rahmat Mirzani Djausal has announced the province’s readiness to enter into a strategic partnership with China’s Shandong Province in modern agriculture, infrastructure, and industrial zone development. The initiative was unveiled during the 2025 Shandong International Friendship Cities Cooperation and Exchange Week, where Lampung, paired with Malang, became the only Indonesian representative. A Letter of Intent was signed to pave the way for a formal Memorandum of Understanding, and plans include virtual follow-up meetings to finalize details.
The collaboration will leverage Shandong’s advanced farming technologies to boost yields of rice, corn, robusta coffee, and cassava in Lampung. It also envisions machinery for satellite-based spatial planning, scholarship and youth exchange programs, and improvements in Port-linked infrastructure to support industrial growth. The provincial planning agency (Bappeda) emphasizes that this international alliance targets direct enhancement of Lampung residents’ welfare.
