President Ursula von der Leyen of the European Commission stated that the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) between Indonesia and the European Union will unlock substantial economic opportunities across key sectors, including agriculture, automotive, and services. She emphasized that the agreement strengthens critical raw material supply chains crucial for energy and digital transitions, and highlighted Europe’s commitment to responsible trade—ensuring environmental protection, respect for local communities, and job creation.
President Prabowo Subianto welcomed the CEPA as a major milestone in EU-Indonesia economic relations. He noted that both sides had successfully harmonized their interests, finding them complementary and mutually beneficial. Prabowo underscored the strategic significance of this partnership amid global uncertainties, pointing to Europe’s leadership in science and finance and Indonesia’s rich natural resources. With no major disputes remaining, Prabowo expressed optimism that the CEPA implementation agreement could be formally signed in Brussels, symbolizing the shared commitment to a stable and collaborative economic future.
