Indonesia, through the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), has successfully expanded the number of fisheries companies approved to export to Vietnam, South Korea, and Canada. A total of 34 new fish processing units (UPI) received approval: 20 for Vietnam, 8 for South Korea, and 6 for Canada. This increase is the result of bilateral agreements on fish quality systems between KKP and the respective countries. As a result, Indonesia now has 611 UPI approved for Vietnam, 667 for South Korea, and 337 for Canada. This move aligns with the ministry’s strategy to diversify export markets and commodities in response to global trade dynamics.
KKP also emphasized cross-sector collaboration to strengthen product quality standards throughout the supply chain. This includes enhancing certification systems, inspection capacity, and global compliance. Companies like PT. Cipra Raya Universe and PT. Ameritindo Cerah Terpadu were among those approved for multiple countries. Minister Sakti Wahyu Trenggono reaffirmed his commitment to maintaining high standards in seafood quality and safety to boost Indonesia’s competitiveness and acceptance in global markets.
