The Ministry of Transportation through the Directorate General of Sea Transportation officially established the Selat Lampa Port in Natuna Regency, Riau Islands, as an export and import port in early July 2025. This decision is based on a letter stating that this open feeder port is suitable for berthing ships up to 10,000 GT, although currently the largest ship that can dock only reaches a capacity of 6,000 GT.
Despite its official status, the full operation of the port is still awaiting the completion of supporting infrastructure such as terminals, CIQ (Customs, Immigration, Quarantine) units, and port authorities (syahbandar). The Natuna Regency and Riau Islands Provincial Governments are currently preparing the Detail Engineering Design (DED) and coordinating with relevant agencies to fulfill technical and regulatory requirements before the port can fully function as an international logistics gateway.
