Indonesia Exports Tuna to Jellyfish Worth Rp. 129 Billion

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) together with the interim KP Minister Syahrul Yasin Limpo released 1,739 tons of fishery exports at New Priok Container Terminal (NPCT 1), North Jakarta, Thursday (10/12/2020). During the January-10 December 2020 period, the volume of fisheries exports reached 388,655 tons, growing 8.74 percent compared to the same period in 2019 which amounted to 357,402 tons. "We should be proud, in this Covid-19 situation, fishery exports grew 8.74 percent in terms of volume and grew by 8.09 percent in terms of value," said Syahrul in a press release, Thursday (10/12/2020).

Not only that, in terms of value, exports increased by 8.09 percent with a total of Rp. 20.57 trillion.As for releasing the export, Syahrul gave a health certificate to exporters. The certificate is a guarantee that the commodity which is estimated to reach Rp. 129 billion is a product that is safe for consumption and of good quality. "We believe that the marine and fisheries sector can be an economic lever in the midst of a pandemic," said Syahrul.

Meanwhile, the Head of BKIPM, Rina, explained that fisheries exports released by Minister Syahrul today will be sent to a number of countries. These countries, such as Malaysia, Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Japan, China, Sri Lanka, South Korea, Spain, Portugal, the United States, and Canada. The commodities exported include sword fish, yellow fin tuna, squid, cuttlefish, shrimp, gindara, octopus, snapper, mahi-mahi, manyung, marlin, sardines, surimi, mackerel, tuna and jellyfish. "We export these to various countries, including European, Asian and American countries," he concluded.
