On 4 July 2025, an Export Release Ceremony for corn seeds from PT Advanta Seeds Indonesia to Mexico was held in Pasuruan, East Java. The export to Mexico is a testament to the quality of local seeds, demonstrating their capacity to compete in the global market and meet stringent global standards. This is particularly notable given Mexico's strict agricultural regulations, particularly regarding seed procurement. By successfully entering the Mexican market, it is anticipated that businesses can also expand into other countries in Asia, Latin America and Africa. PT Advanta Seeds is committed to integrating the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), including the enhancement of farmers' welfare, active female involvement in the production chain, and farmer regeneration (education and training). The company's commitment to research and development is evident in its work on drought-resistant sorghum and corn seeds. Furthermore, the company is continually expanding its research and strategic partnerships to support Indonesian agriculture in its efforts to gain a stronger position in the global market.
The corn sector in Pasuruan holds significant potential, with the 2024 harvest area reaching 41,925 hectares. The current average productivity stands at approximately 6.63 tonnes per hectare, resulting in a total production of 277,334 tonnes. By implementing effective cultivation techniques, productivity could be increased by 7-8 tonnes. Advanta is optimistic that Indonesia can become a key player in the global seed industry, with strong synergy between the government, businesses, and farming communities continuing to be strengthened. Local governments are currently mapping out land and farming groups ready to participate, including through the ICARE (Integrated Corporation of Agricultural Resources Empowerment) programme from the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Indonesia, with implementation already ongoing in Wonorejo and Sukorejo sub-districts.
