The Indonesian Export Financing Institution (LPEI) or Indonesia Eximbank received a visit from seven Indonesian Ambassadors to African countries on June 24th, 2025. The visit aims to strengthen synergy in opening export market access to the increasingly strategic African region. Acting Chairman of the Board of Directors and Executive Director, Sukatmo Padmosukarso said that the meeting, which was also facilitated together with Bank Mandiri, was part of an effort to expand national export penetration through the Regional Special Export Assignment (PKE) program, especially to countries that have not yet been reached by commercial financing. "Through the Regional PKE, Indonesia Eximbank is here to finance exports to regions with great potential but high risks such as the African region which is often untouched by commercial financing," he said in a written statement, Friday, July 4th, 2025. For information, the African region is increasingly promising as a non-traditional export destination for Indonesia, with export values recorded at USD 6.3 billion in 2024.
Although it only covers 2.4% of total national exports, this trend reflects a very promising opportunity to be expanded to various strategic sectors. He continued, not only supporting the export of goods and services to potential markets, the Regional PKE is also an instrument for Indonesia Eximbank in carrying out the role of economic diplomacy through strategic financing in national leading sectors. As of May 2025, Regional PKE financing has penetrated more than 30% of countries in the African region with an accumulated financing value in the African region of IDR 5.15 trillion. Supported projects include exports of CN-235 aircraft to Senegal, geotechnical survey services to Congo, and cement products in the region. Indonesia's Leading Commodities in the African Market.
