The value of commodity exports from North Sulawesi Province (Sulut) in the period from January to May 2025 was recorded at USD 506.04 million. This figure increased by 51.41 % compared to the same period in 2024. If we look specifically at the comparison between May 2025 and May 2024 (year-on-year), the increase in export value was also quite significant, where in May 2025 the total export value reached USD 137.14 million or increased by 63.71%. The Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of North Sulawesi Province, Aidil Adha, said that the largest export commodities from January to May 2025 were still dominated by animal/vegetable fats and oils (HS 15). "Exports of animal/vegetable fats and oils (HS 15) in this period were worth USD 368.66 million or up 77.75% compared to the same period in 2024," said Aidil.
The largest export destination country for commodities from North Sulawesi in January-May 2025 was China with a value of USD 124.61 million with a percentage figure of 24.63% . This figure increased by 61.90% compared to the same period in 2024. In addition to China, the largest export destination countries were the Philippines with a value of USD 92.42 or 18.26%, and the Netherlands with a value of USD 78.93 million or 15.60%. Furthermore, Aidil explained that for the import value, in the period from January to May 2025 there was a decrease of up to 23.41%, where the import value in this period reached USD 66.75 million. "Malaysia is still the largest country of origin for imports in the period from January to May 2025, with an import value reaching USD 32.69 million. The largest import commodity is mineral fuel (HS 27), worth USD 51.00 million," said Aidil again.
