Pertamina Plaju Refinery recorded brilliant achievements throughout 2024 by becoming the third largest contributor of export foreign exchange in the work area of the Palembang Type B Customs and Excise Supervision and Service Office (KPPBC TMP B). Throughout 2024, the total export value of the refinery managed by PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional (KPI) RU III reached USD 452 million. This achievement confirms the strategic role of the Pertamina Plaju Refinery as a driver of the regional economy and an important contributor of foreign exchange for the country. The export products from this refinery include various variants of fuel oil (BBM) and other refinery derivative products that have met international market specifications. These products include Vacuum Residue, MFO Low Sulfur 180 CST, LSFO V-1250, and Decant Oil, which are exported to Malaysia and Singapore.
Vacuum Residue is a heavy residue from vacuum distillation, which is used as a raw material for making asphalt or feedstock for cracking units. Meanwhile, MFO Low Sulfur is a low-sulfur ship fuel that meets the standards of the International Maritime Organization (IMO). LSFO V-1250 is used in industry and the electricity sector, while Decant Oil is used as a raw material for the carbon black industry or a mixture of heavy fuel oil. "This export contribution reflects the commitment of the Pertamina Plaju Refinery to maintaining operational reliability and product quality that is globally competitive. In addition to supporting the national energy supply, we are also able to generate significant foreign exchange for the country," said Siti Rachmi Indahsari, Area Manager of Communication, Relations & CSR of PT KPI RU III Plaju, Tuesday (1/7/2025). In addition to focusing on economic performance, Pertamina Plaju Refinery also prioritizes sustainable business practices by implementing Environmental, Social & Governance (ESG) principles throughout its operational lines.
