Indonesia’s furniture and handicraft exports have shown a promising uptick in early 2025. According to the Indonesian Furniture and Craft Industry Association (HIMKI), export value in Q1 2025 reached USD 698.64 million—an increase of 2.18% compared to the same period last year. The furniture sector led this growth with a 4.33% year-on-year rise, totaling USD 529.76 million. Meanwhile, handicraft exports slightly declined by 4.02%, reaching USD 168.88 million. Despite this dip, the overall export momentum remains positive, especially for wooden furniture, which contributed nearly half of the sector’s export value.
Looking at full-year data for 2024, total exports of furniture and crafts hit USD 2.598 billion, up from USD 2.424 billion in 2023. Furniture dominated the total with USD 1.925 billion, led by wood-based products (48.49%), followed by metal (4.16%) and rattan furniture (3.93%). Although still below the 2022 peak, this upward trend reflects resilience and growing international demand for Indonesian craftsmanship. Industry stakeholders remain optimistic that strategic innovation and product diversification can help further boost global competitiveness in the near future.
