On 1 July 2025, Central Java Governor Ahmad Luthfi and Deputy Governor Taj Yasin received a visit from Singapore's Ambassador to Indonesia, Kwok Fook Seng, at the Governor's Office. During the visit, investment opportunities from Singapore were discussed for developing a green economy in Central Java, particularly in several industrial zones, including the Kendal Industrial Zone (KIK) and the Integrated Batang Industrial Zone (KITB), among others. Furthermore, discussions were held on the subjects of connectivity and logistics. Singapore's strategic objective is to facilitate the global trade of both raw materials and finished goods. Singapore is one of the countries with significant investment value in Central Java. As of the first quarter of 2025, Singapore's investment value in Central Java reached IDR 2.081 trillion, with the potential to increase further by the end of the year. Investment from Singapore has also increased year on year.
The investment opportunities discussed include green industries such as solar panels, biogas, biothermal, and others. Central Java has considerable renewable energy potential to support a green economy, including natural gas, geothermal energy and solar panels. Luthfi has stated that investment is a key factor in achieving this potential. Potential investment cooperation in other sectors includes tourism and micro, small, and medium enterprises (UMKM), enabling Central Java's coffee production to enter the Singaporean market. Furthermore, efforts have been made to collaborate with the Riau Islands to facilitate the entry of agricultural and livestock products into the Singaporean market. In response to the Singaporean government's cooperation offer, a delegation team is being organised to promote investment opportunities and potential in Central Java to Singapore. The Singaporean Ambassador has stated that the green economy is also part of future industrial downstreaming. The development of the green economy is expected to attract investors interested in the availability of renewable energy sources.
