The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, inaugurated the operation and construction of 55 new renewable energy (EBT) projects built by the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), PT PLN (Persero), and the private sector simultaneously in 15 provinces in Indonesia. The simultaneous inauguration was carried out centrally at the Ijen geothermal power plant (PLTP), Bondowoso Regency, East Java, Thursday (26/6). This step is a manifestation of Indonesia's seriousness in accelerating the energy transition in the country while achieving energy self-sufficiency. Overall, this inauguration includes 8 PLTP projects with details of 3 projects in the commercial operation date (COD) stage and 5 projects in the groundbreaking stage as well as 47 solar power plants (PLTS) with a total combined capacity of 379.7 MW.
President Prabowo in his remarks emphasized the importance of sustainable EBT development as a form of national independence. Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources, Bahlil Lahadalia, said that this progressive step in the utilization of renewable energy is a manifestation of Indonesia's commitment to boosting the energy transition towards Net Zero Emissions (NZE) in 2060. Today we want to implement what the President has directed that the energy transition must be carried out continuously and for 15 provinces, apart from PLTP, we are also inaugurating PLTS in villages that do not yet have electricity," he said. He explained that a total of 55 renewable energy power plants inaugurated by the President consisted of PLTP and PLTS with a total investment value of around IDR 25 trillion and an installed capacity of 379.7 megawatts (MW). Then there are 47 Solar Power Plants (PLTS) whose operations were officially launched with a total capacity of 27.8 MW capable of electrifying 5,383 households and spread across 47 villages in 11 provinces.
