PT. Pelabuhan Indonesia (Persero) or Pelindo Regional 4 Pantoloan continues to demonstrate its commitment to driving regional economic growth. Since May 2025, Pelindo has implemented direct calls or direct shipping abroad, transporting an average of 100 container boxes per shipping. General Manager (GM) of Pelindo Regional 4 Pantoloan, Chaerur Rijal said that this direct call has been carried out seven times by collaborating with an international shipping company from Hong Kong, SITC. This activity is expected to be able to reduce travel time and logistics costs for superior commodities from Central Sulawesi such as coconut, durian, and others. "The implementation of this direct call is proof that Pantoloan Port has great potential to support regional and national trade. The enthusiasm of service users has also increased since the inaugural shipping last May," said Chaerur Rijal, Saturday (6/29/2025). The direct call route is served by container ships bound for the Philippines, Vietnam, and China.
According to Chaerur Rijal, this condition also encourages the competitiveness of local commodities in the international market. Based on Pelindo Regional 4 Pantoloan's records, until May 2025, the flow of containers was recorded at 52,478 TEUs, up 17% compared to the same period in 2024. Meanwhile, the flow of ship visits reached 2,320,402 Gross Tonnage (GT) or grew 31.33% t annually. "We continue to synergize with local governments, shipping companies, and service users to ensure the sustainability of direct call services," he explained. In addition, Pelindo Regional 4 Pantoloan also continues to pay attention to aspects of social and environmental responsibility. In the first quarter of this year, the company has implemented a greening program in the port area as a form of contribution to sustainable development. "We are optimistic that Pantoloan Port can become the main logistics hub for Central Sulawesi," concluded Chaerur Rijal.
