President of the Republic of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto accompanied by the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Bahlil Lahadalia inaugurated the Groundbreaking of the Integrated Electric Battery Industry Ecosystem of the ANTAM-IBC-CBL Consortium in the Artha Industrial Hills (AIH) Area in Karawang Regency, West Java, today, Sunday (29/6). In his remarks, President Prabowo expressed his confidence that this groundbreaking would be a history that has strategic value. The Head of State believes that the key to a nation's development comes from the ability to process natural resources into useful materials. The President also highlighted this groundbreaking as a colossal cooperation between countries marked by cooperation with China.
Bahlil emphasized that all downstream projects must be fair, in accordance with President Prabowo's direction. "I ask the companies, so that this downstreaming should not only benefit investors and the Central Government. So downstreaming under the direction of the President must be fair. Fair for regional entrepreneurs, fair for the community, and fair for the Regional Government," Bahlil emphasized. Bahlil also said that this project was an initial idea to collaborate between countries rich in natural resources, with countries that excel in technology and market goals. The Integrated Electric Vehicle Battery Industry Ecosystem Project consists of six main sub-projects, of which five projects are developed in the Feni Haltim Area (FHT) of East Halmahera, North Maluku, and one project is developed in Karawang, West Java. This project is part of the National Strategic Project (PSN) with an investment value of USD 5.9 billion and covers an area of 3,023 hectares and is able to absorb 35,000 direct and indirect workers, local economic growth, and 18 multifunctional dock infrastructure projects.
