Indonesia’s Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) is urging domestic industries to accelerate the development of renewable energy (EBT) infrastructure as part of the country’s roadmap to achieve Net Zero Emissions by 2060. Key support is being channeled into sectors producing solar cells, batteries, control panels, water and wind turbines, and related equipment. Director General of ILMATE, Setia Diarta, emphasized this strategy during the inauguration of PT Schneider Electric Indonesia’s third factory in Cikarang, West Java—a symbol of Indonesia’s growing role in the global high-tech manufacturing sector.
The Cikarang factory, one of Schneider’s smart factories, showcases advanced features including the EcoStruxure™ system, rooftop solar panels, and AI-based automation. Kemenperin reaffirmed the importance of prioritizing domestic products in both industrial procurement and production chains. According to Solehan, Director of Agricultural Machinery and Equipment Industries, such efforts are essential to build national industrial resilience and sustainability. France’s Ambassador to Indonesia, Fabien Penone, echoed this commitment, highlighting Schneider Electric as a leading example of long-term Franco-Indonesian cooperation in sustainable industrial development. The factory’s expansion is expected to attract more quality investment, foster cross-sector collaboration, and support the transition to a green economy. With global competitiveness and innovation in focus, Indonesia is steadily positioning itself as a key player in the renewable energy manufacturing landscape.
