The government of Yeonggwang-gun, South Korea, is exploring a strategic partnership with the Gianyar Regency Government for the development of the e-mobility industry. This initiative was formalized through the signing of a Letter of Intent (LoI) at the Main Meeting Room of the Gianyar Regent’s Office on Thursday, June 26, 2025. Gianyar Regional Secretary, Dewa Gde Alit Mudiarta, warmly welcomed the Yeonggwang-gun delegation and highlighted the importance of this moment to strengthen bilateral relations, especially in technology and environmental sustainability. As a cultural hub in Bali with high vehicle mobility, Gianyar is open to cleaner transport innovations. Dewa Alit noted that small-scale e-mobility could ease urban congestion, reduce pollution, and lessen dependence on fossil fuels.
The collaboration is considered strategic, given South Korea’s success in electric vehicle (EV) development, engine conversion, and green industrial ecosystem building. It is expected to bring technology transfer that not only supports technical transformation but also boosts local human resource capacity, creates new jobs, and engages local SMEs and community workshops in the vehicle conversion value chain. Yeonggwang-gun Mayor Jang Se-il emphasized that this partnership is a meaningful starting point for technology exchange and commercialization of small EVs and special-purpose vehicles. Following the LoI signing, the South Korean delegation proceeded to Sukawati Village for an electric vehicle demonstration, accompanied by Gianyar’s Transportation Department.
