The Batam Business Entity (BP Batam) Signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Ministry of Investment

On 24 June 2025, the Batam Business Entity (BP Batam) and the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming, represented by Minister of Investment and Downstreaming Rosan Perkasa Roeslani and Head of the BP Batam/Mayor of Batam Amsakar Achmad, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on investment development in the city of Batam. Amsakar Achmad has stated that the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will strengthen the foundation for cooperation in synchronising and exchanging data and information, overseeing the licensing system, developing opportunities and formulating policies, as well as developing other potential resources. This initiative is a testament to its commitment to fostering an investment-friendly and globally adaptive region. Previously, in 2024, Batam City's investment realisation reached IDR 43.26 trillion, representing a 31.17% increase compared to 2023. This increase directly drove Batam's economic growth in the same year, reaching 6.69%.

It is hoped that the Memorandum of Understanding will provide a solid foundation for integrating central policies and technical implementation at the regional level, thereby creating a competitive investment climate in Batam City. The Minister of Investment and Downstreaming, Rosan Perkasa Roeslani, has stated that Batam's contribution is crucial in achieving the national economic growth target of 8%. With an investment target for the next five years of IDR 13,000 trillion, as set by the Ministry of Investment and Downstreaming.  Meanwhile, for 2025, the investment target has been set at IDR 1,900 trillion.
