The Southeast Sulawesi (Sultra) Provincial Government has officially launched the export of 98 tons of marine and fishery products to the United States, Thailand, and several other countries. The export activity worth more than IDR 28 billion was launched directly by the Deputy Governor of Southeast Sulawesi, Ir Hugua, at the Kendari Container Terminal, Wednesday (6/24/2025) morning. The exported products include 42 tons of frozen octopus, 10 tons of other frozen supplies (total value of IDR 6.1 billion), and 45 tons of crab meat with a value of IDR 21 billion. All of these commodities were loaded into five containers and sent directly from Kendari City to the international market. In his remarks, the Deputy Governor of Southeast Sulawesi said that this export was a strategic step to strengthen the marine and fisheries sector and increase the competitiveness of Southeast Sulawesi products in the global market.
"We prioritize the concept of certified and sustainable products. This is a guarantee of quality as well as a commitment to maintaining the marine ecosystem and improving the welfare of fishermen and business actors," said Hugua. He added that through certification, marine products from Southeast Sulawesi not only meet international standards, but also build global consumer trust. "This is the gateway to greater exports and higher added value for the region and the community. And of course, it must be sustainable," he said, which was greeted with warm applause from the audience. Meanwhile, the Head of the Marine and Fisheries Product Quality Control and Supervision Agency of the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP), Ishartini, who represented the Minister of KKP, said that the export achievement was extraordinary, especially considering the strict quality standards in the international market.
