Bank Indonesia (BI) revealed that until June 24, the transaction value was recorded at more than IDR 12 billion in the 2025 Sumatra Sharia Economic Festival (FESyar). Senior Deputy Governor of Bank Indonesia, Destry Damayanti explained that until June 24th, 2025, sales during the event reached RID 1.7 billion, business meeting commitments of IDR 3.6 billion and financing facilities in synergy with OJK and Asbisindo Lampung Province of IDR 7.13 billion. "This nominal reflects the strong development and potential of the sharia financial economy (eksyar) in the Sumatra region," he said in his statement, quoted Thursday, June 26th.
The FESyar Sumatera 2025 series presents innovations that strengthen the development of the halal ecosystem and sharia finance, including the inauguration of 15 Safe and Healthy Halal Culinary Zones (KHAS) throughout Sumatra, the development of Muslim-friendly tourist destinations (PRM) in Pahawang and South Lampung, the Sadar Wakaf Movement, and the training of 100 sharia economic literacy ambassadors. Destry said that Bank Indonesia will continue to play a role as an Accelerator, Initiator, and Regulator, in the development of the sharia economy and finance. In 2024, the halal value chain sector will grow by 4% (yoy) and support 25% of the national economy, and sharia financial assets will reach IDR 9,927 trillion, or equivalent to 45% of Indonesia's GDP. There are 210 MSMEs involved in FESyar 2025 and the exposure of FESyar Sumatra in promoting the halal ecosystem to the community has also received quite high enthusiasm with a total of 45,006 visitors and audiences. FESyar is also part of the Road to Indonesia Sharia Economic Festival (ISEF) 2025, which will be held on 8-12 October 2025 in Jakarta, after Fesyar Sumatra, Bank Indonesia will also hold Fesyar KTI and Fesyar Java in July and September 2025.
