The Indonesian Institute of Management Accountants (IAMI) held a national conference titled "IAMI Conference: The Frontier in ESG-Management Accountants' Roles in Saving the Earth and Promoting National Prosperity" to discuss the application of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles in sustainable business strategies. Recognizing the importance of this topic, the Indonesia Financial Group (IFG), a state-owned enterprise (BUMN) holding in Insurance, Guarantees, and Investment, is actively strengthening management accountants' capabilities to support Indonesia's ESG transformation. This initiative aligns with IFG's 2025-2029 vision to become a highly valuable and respected financial partner. As a testament to this commitment, Dr. Haru Koesmahargyo, IFG's Deputy CEO, was a keynote speaker at the conference held in Jakarta from June 20-21, 2025.
During the conference, Haru Koesmahargyo highlighted the crucial role of management accountants in strengthening ESG and IFG's contribution to national sustainability through robust governance. He emphasized that in a complex global landscape, ESG is key to building long-term resilience and mitigating risks while creating a positive societal impact. He stated that the role of management accountants is crucial not only for regulatory compliance but also for creating long-term value for all stakeholders. As an example, he cited IFG's ESG initiatives, such as its role through Askrindo and Jamkrindo in guaranteeing the People's Business Credit (KUR) and National Economic Recovery (PEN) programs. This government trust proves that the synergy between reliable accounting practices and integrated ESG implementation is a core pillar for a strong, fair, and sustainable national economy.
