On 23 June 2025, the Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, had a meeting with the French Ambassador to Indonesia, Timor Leste, and ASEAN, Fabienne Penone, in Jakarta. The meeting discussed the implementation of a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in the creative economy between Indonesia and France. Both parties committed to immediately implementing concrete cooperation in Indonesia and France through the sub-sectors of film, animation, games, design, fashion, and crafts. Previously, on 28 May 2025, the Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy and the French Minister of Culture, Rachida Dati, signed a memorandum of understanding on creative economy cooperation between the two countries.
Minister Teuku stated that during the meeting with the French Ambassador, a long-term collaboration initiative emerged in the form of a Masterclass Program, creative business exchanges, and workshops aimed at strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries. Ambassador Penone expressed his support for the initiative and underlined the significance of maintaining strategic and impactful joint programmes. France is poised to leverage the expertise of private sector professionals to support training and capacity-building initiatives. It is hoped that this cooperation in the creative economy sector will enhance the global competitiveness of businesses. During the meeting with the Indonesian Minister of Creative Economy, Ambassador Penone also extended an official invitation for Indonesia to participate in the Bastille Day celebration, held every 14 July in France.
