Krakatau Steel, through its subsidiary PT Krakatau Baja Industri (KBI), has strengthened its presence in the European market by exporting 2,400 tons of Cold Rolled Coil (CRC) steel to the Port of Szczecin, Poland, beginning in June 2025. The company plans to increase exports to 5,000 tons the following month, with further expansion expected. These high-quality CRC products, which are commonly used in the pipe, automotive, galvalume, galvanized, and household goods industries, are produced at KBI's advanced facilities in Cilegon and have met both domestic and international standards.
The Director of Export for Industrial and Mining Products at the Indonesian Ministry of Trade, Andri Gilang Nugraha, praised the move as proof of the success of Indonesia's industrial downstreaming strategy. He noted that meeting Europe's stringent steel standards signals Indonesia's growing competitiveness in quality and innovation, positioning the country as a serious player in the global steel industry. PT KBI President Director Purnomo emphasized the company’s commitment to enhancing product quality, pricing, and delivery to boost customer satisfaction. Krakatau Steel Group CEO Akbar Djohan echoed this optimism, pointing to ongoing plans to export to Portugal, Spain, and Belgium. Krakatau Steel has already secured deals with Vietnam and has exported to numerous countries, including Germany, Turkey, and the Middle East. These accomplishments highlight Krakatau Steel's transformation into a globally competitive national steel producer, driving Indonesia’s industrial capabilities forward.
