Gresik Regent Launches First Livestock Feed Export to Malaysia by Local SME

Gresik Regent Fandi Akhmad Yani officially launched the first export of livestock feed produced by local SME PT Aji Bakuh Anugrah to Malaysia, marking a milestone in the district’s efforts to elevate small businesses to the global stage. The export ceremony, symbolized by a traditional jar-breaking ritual, was held on June 24, 2025. The product, made from cocoa shells sourced from PT Cargill Indonesia, has been processed into high-nutrition animal feed. In this initial trial phase, 10 tons were shipped in a 20-foot container valued at USD 5,000, with potential exports projected to reach 300 tons.

Regent Fandi praised the company’s growth, noting that this is its second export achievement following successful entries into Japan and South Korea in 2024. He emphasized that this success is the result of continuous learning, collaboration, and support from the local government, which has facilitated training, legal assistance, certification, and product branding strategies for SMEs. He also handed over an HACCP certificate to the Merah Putih Cooperative of Pangkah Kulon Village for meeting national standards in seaweed aquaculture. This certification highlights the village’s commitment to quality and food safety. The Regent stressed that these achievements reflect strong collaboration between the Gresik government, technical agencies, and local businesses, proving that with the right support, even small enterprises can compete in the global market. He concluded by encouraging more local innovators to step into export, proving that global trade is no longer just for big corporations, UMKM can lead the way.
