Minister of Creative Economy, Teuku Riefky Harsya, emphasized the importance of establishing regional creative economy offices to better support local creative industries. During a meeting with Surakarta Mayor Respati Ardi and representatives of the Surakarta Game Developer community (Surgadeva), Riefky explained that dedicated agencies would allow more strategic engagement with creative professionals, much like the support given to entrepreneurs. These agencies would also enable regional branches of national creative associations to contribute directly to local development. The discussion, held at Jakarta’s Autograph Tower, focused on collaborative efforts to boost regional income and job creation through creative business development.
Riefky highlighted the Ministry's role as an accelerator for the creative sector, offering targeted training programs curated by local governments and identifying potential for national or global scaling—be it in commercialization, promotion, or networking. He expressed hope for a strategic partnership with the Surakarta government to implement these initiatives. Mayor Respati welcomed the collaboration, aiming to empower local creative talents meaningfully rather than symbolically. Arif Setiawan of Surgadeva also expressed eagerness to work with the Ministry, proposing a game development academy in Solo. With over 200 members, 10 studios, and market-ready intellectual properties, Surgadeva demonstrates the vast potential of Indonesia’s game industry. Notably, their game Epic Conquest has been downloaded over 12 million times, yet local talent remains limited—something they hope to change with government support.
