On 23 June 2025, the launch of the Solar PV Manufacturing Project was held in Bekasi, West Java. Pertamina NRE is collaborating with LONGi Green Technology Co., Ltd to build a solar panel manufacturing facility in Indonesia. The facility is targeted to have a production capacity of 1.4 gigawatts (GW) per year and will utilise the latest technology from LONGi. The project's strategic location facilitates distribution and supply chain management during the production process. The manufacturing facility is also expected to generate local employment opportunities, stimulate national economic growth, and make a substantial contribution to Indonesia's energy transition process, enhancing the country's renewable energy manufacturing capabilities. The collaboration between the two companies also integrates Indonesia into the global supply chain within the new and renewable energy industry.
Notably, this project is aligned with the government's strategic targets, including achieving a 34.3% energy blend by 2034 and enhancing national capacity to 3 GWp, with the overarching goal of supporting 300–400 GWp of solar power plants (SPPs) by 2060. The collaboration with PNRE represents a valuable opportunity for the company to expand its energy business in Southeast Asia. In addition, the project is expected to strengthen the renewable energy industry supply chain, including solar cells, and support the development of green hydrogen projects in the future. Furthermore, the project is expected to contribute to national energy sovereignty.
