The Ministry of Industry is taking significant steps to boost the national agricultural machinery (alsintan) industry to improve the efficiency and productivity of Indonesia's agriculture sector. As a strategic move toward sustainable modernization, the ministry is reinforcing the role of the Indonesia Manufacturing Center to support innovation, technology adoption, and long-term competitiveness in agricultural mechanization.
Director General of ILMATE, Setia Darta, emphasized the ministry’s commitment to promoting domestic alsintan production by implementing product standardization, encouraging the use of locally made equipment, and integrating policies from the "Making Indonesia 4.0" roadmap to foster digital transformation. Incentives such as tax holidays and allowances are being offered to attract high-tech investment. Meanwhile, Director Solehan highlighted the role of academia and research institutions in co-developing relevant technologies through collaborative innovation ecosystems. The ministry also supports business matchmaking efforts to align innovation with the specific needs of Indonesia’s agricultural landscape. With 67 domestic alsintan companies employing over 5,600 workers and an export value reaching USD 90 million in 2024, the sector shows promising potential. Locally produced equipment includes tools for pre-harvest, harvest, and post-harvest stages such as tractors, cultivators, sprayers, and dryers, reinforcing both national food security and technological resilience.
