On June 23, 2025, Avina Farid Naparin, Chair of the Family Welfare Empowerment Team (TP PKK) of Palangka Raya, led a premium melon harvest at Borneo Hydroponic Edu-tourism on Jalan G. Obos. The event showcased the success of youth-led hydroponic farming integrated with educational tourism. The premium melons, known for their naturally sweet taste and high quality, reflect the innovation and dedication of the younger generation in transforming urban agriculture.
Avina praised the youth's role in revitalizing agriculture through modern technology, emphasizing how hydroponics addresses limited land space and supports family resilience. She highlighted the potential of home gardens to produce healthy food and foster household economic independence. Expressing hope that this initiative would inspire broader participation, especially among millennials, she encouraged the continued growth of sustainable agriculture in Palangka Raya. Edu-tourism founder Suhendro added that the melons mature in 65 days and are sold at Rp45,000 per kilogram, matching their market demand and quality.
