Gorontalo has proven that agriculture remains a vital pillar of its economy. In early 2025, the province recorded an impressive 6.07% economic growth, with agriculture contributing the largest share at 38%. According to Provincial Secretary Sofian, this sector employs nearly half of Gorontalo's workforce, making it both a strategic and inclusive economic driver.
Speaking at the 2025 National Mid-Term Dialogue of KTNA (a national association of top-performing farmers and fishers) held in Gorontalo, Sofian reaffirmed the province’s ongoing commitment to agriculture as a development priority. Since its inception, Gorontalo has relied heavily on this sector, with 29% of its workforce directly involved in agricultural activities. The local government, under the leadership of the governor and deputy governor, continues to support agriculture as a cornerstone of economic advancement. Hosting the KTNA event further underlines Gorontalo’s role in fostering national agricultural growth and regional cooperation.
