On 17 June 2025, President Prabowo Subianto met with the Czech Prime Minister, Petr Fiala, in Prague. During the meeting, the two leaders agreed to enhance trade and investment cooperation between Indonesia and the Czech Republic. President Prabowo's visit was part of a transit stop before heading to Russia to accept an invitation from President Vladimir Putin and attend the 28th St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF 2025). However, the visit to the Czech Republic was not a state visit, according to official information released by the Presidential Secretariat. In the future, the Head of State will seek to consolidate the relationship between Indonesia and the Czech Republic, with a view to identifying numerous opportunities for strategic cooperation.
Previously, on 18 April 2023, Prime Minister Petr Fiala and a number of Czech entrepreneurs visited Indonesia and were received by the 7th President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo, at the Bogor Presidential Palace. At that time, the President invited the Czech government and businesspeople to consider investing in the Nusantara Capital City (IKN) project in East Kalimantan. In response to this invitation, Prime Minister Fiala stated that Czech companies are interested in participating in the development of IKN, particularly in the green energy sector.
