On 17 June 2025, the U.S. Embassy in Jakarta, in collaboration with the Indonesian Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, hosted the U.S. Business for Indonesia: Creative Economy Forum. Its aim was to strengthen trade relations between the two countries by increasing the involvement of the U.S. commercial sector in one of Southeast Asia's fastest-growing creative economy sectors. Representatives from prominent private sector companies in the U.S., including Netflix, Universal Pictures, Google, LinkedIn, Scholastic, and Roblox, participated in the forum alongside Indonesian government officials, local industry leaders, and stakeholders from the creative economy sector. This forum reflects the United States' commitment to growing trade in the Indo-Pacific, while promoting innovation and exports. With Indonesia's creative economy driving growth, the forum opens new business opportunities for both countries.
The forum features four main discussion panels that are focused on expanding U.S. trade and investment opportunities in Indonesia. The session focused on strategies for promoting content distribution, production development, and policy reforms to facilitate U.S. creative exports. During the forum, U.S. companies took part in scheduled business matching meetings. These meetings were organised by the U.S. Commercial Service together with partners from the Indonesian public and private sectors. The aim of the meetings was to establish new trade agreements, investment projects and joint cooperation initiatives.
