Palm oil is now a strategic commodity for Indonesia that has a significant contribution to the economy and people's welfare. However, this sector also faces major challenges such as environmental issues, global market pressures, and demands for transparency and accountability. The implementation of the Indonesian Sustainable Palm Oil (ISPO) certification and the implementation of its supporting information system, SI-ISPO, is a sustainability governance framework designed to ensure sustainable, fair, and integrated palm oil industry practices. This system includes mandatory certification with seven principles and criteria set out in Presidential Regulation No. 16 of 2025. ISPO covers three main segments, namely plantation businesses, downstream industries, and palm oil bioenergy companies. "Through ISPO, Indonesia seeks to increase the competitiveness and acceptance of palm oil products in the global market while maintaining the sustainability and welfare of all stakeholders," said President Director of PT Surveyor Indonesia, Sandry Pasambuna at a business forum entitled "Sustainability of Indonesian Palm Oil to Meet World Need for Vegetable Oil" at the Osaka Expo 2025 international event.
PT. Surveyor Indonesia, as one of the strategic BUMN engaged in survey, inspection, and certification services, expressed its commitment to continue supporting the implementation of the ISPO system and the development of SI-ISPO as a whole. Sandry emphasized that his company plays an active role in ensuring that the certification process is transparent, accountable, and in accordance with the principles of sustainability. PT Surveyor Indonesia also introduced SI-ISPO, a cloud-based information system that integrates ISPO certification with cutting-edge technology, such as blockchain, to ensure data security and information transparency. This system is designed to facilitate the process of data collection, certification validation, and supply chain tracking of certified palm oil products.
