The Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin) continues to encourage the determination of National Vital Objects in the Industrial Sector (OVNI) for industrial areas in an effort to maintain the sustainability and competitiveness of the national industry. The determination of OVNI is believed to be able to increase the security of industrial areas while providing certainty for investors in doing business. The Director General of Resilience, Regionalization and International Industrial Access (KPAII) of the Ministry of Industry, Tri Supondy, emphasized that OVNI is a strategic non-fiscal facility for industrial areas. He emphasized that the determination of OVNI provides a more standardized security guarantee. "This is important to create a conducive investment climate and encourage the growth of the national industry which is currently the backbone of the 8% economic growth target in the 2025-2029 period," said Tri. He stated that of the 170 industrial areas that have business permits, only 31 areas have been designated as OVNI. This figure, Tri continued, is still relatively low considering the importance of establishing OVNI as a preventive measure against various security disturbances.
"Regarding the importance of OVNI, some time ago, we conducted socialization targeting industrial areas in the provinces of West Java, DKI Jakarta, and Banten as priority loci," he added. Meanwhile, the General Chairperson of the Industrial Area Association (HKI) Sanny Iskandar welcomed the move, because he considered the establishment of OVNI to be a form of legal certainty and concrete support from the government to industrial players. As part of a series of socialization activities, the Director General of KPAII of the Ministry of Industry also handed over the OVNI Determination Decree to PT. Jababeka Tbk. This handover is a symbol of the government's commitment to supporting the sustainability of industrial area operations. PT. Jababeka has been recorded as having received three extensions of its OVNI status, making it one of the most consistent industrial areas in maintaining security standards and good relations with the surrounding community.
