Head of Industry and Trade Office of Lampung Province, Evie Fatmawaty, stated that the implementation of the Indonesia–European Union Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IEU-CEPA) presents a major opportunity for expanding Lampung’s palm oil derivative products. With the potential for import tariffs on Indonesian palm oil to drop to 0% in the coming years, Lampung’s key exports—such as glycerin and cooking oil—are expected to gain wider access to European markets, boosting both volume and value. Efforts to promote downstream processing have been reinforced through international collaborations, including investments from Switzerland and the United Arab Emirates in derivative product processing plants.
Currently, 33.6% of Lampung’s CPO exports are value-added derivatives like glycerin and cooking oil. This downstream strategy not only enhances export value but also supports renewable energy production through biodiesel, meeting both export and domestic demands. Additionally, Lampung exports palm kernel shells in the form of charcoal briquettes to international markets. Alongside coal, CPO and its derivatives have become key commodities for Lampung, supported by growing global demand across multiple industrial sectors.
