Banten Governor Andra Soni reaffirmed his commitment to strengthening the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) sector as the backbone of the regional economy. Amid the influx of foreign products, he sees MSMEs as crucial to maintaining economic stability and driving local growth. Speaking during an exclusive interview with BTV Universe at the “Resilient Entrepreneurs, Key to a Self-Reliant Indonesia” event in Tangerang on June 16, 2025, he emphasized that empowering MSMEs from upstream to downstream is essential to making them the main engine of Banten’s economy. He also highlighted the province's strong economic performance, with a 5.19% year-on-year growth in the first quarter of 2025, and expressed optimism about contributing to President Prabowo’s national growth target of 8%.
To support MSMEs, the Banten Provincial Government is rolling out strategic programs, including training, production and packaging assistance, and access to financing through regional-owned enterprises like PT Jamkrida and Bank Banten. Digital transformation is also a key focus, enabling small businesses to access broader markets and potentially enter export markets with the right technical and technological support. In a podcast session, Governor Andra also outlined Banten’s strengths in agriculture, industry, and tourism, noting plans to maintain the province’s top-eight ranking in national food production. He further announced new industrial zones equipped with infrastructure and streamlined licensing to attract investors, while calling for professional and consistent management of Banten’s promising tourism sector.
